Our writer in residence during 2016 - May 2017 in Beaumont Leys was Jayne Williams.
Jayne created lots of exciting activities and got to know the community through a range of creative workshops they worked on together. She collected stories about the local people living in Beaumont Leys which were re told through print, monologue and pop up pieces of live performance.
Some of the stories Jayne captured were recorded for a Massive Memoir, as part of the Everybody's Reading Festival in October. Each story has been turned into an audio book each with an original book cover designed by Artist Bob Moulder. The books can be found in the library and can each be listened to here.
In March, Jayne held the Beaumont Leys Big Celebration, a coming together of the local community. Past and present residents participated in the event either by providing food, performing or by supporting their family, friends and neighbours as an audience member. During the event there were performances in Spoken Word, Dance and Theatre, Poetry as well as Exhibitions displaying work from members of the writing, painting and Knit and Natter groups.
