The Spark regularly works with emerging artists and developing companies to create new, innovative and diverse work for children.
In 2014 we commissioned two companies (Arun Ghosh and Bamboozle Theatre) to create new work, with both pieces premièring at The Spark Festival.
We commissioned Arun Ghosh and his Quintet to bring the wonderful sounds of Indo-Jazz to school halls before performing at The Y in Leicester. In conjunction with this the Miles Ahead programme, and Leicester-shire Music Hub, funded a series of in schools workshops to offer young people the opportunity to perform alongside Arun and his Quintet on stage at The Y.
In 2015 we worked with Mashi Theatre on their production of "Tales of Birbal" and continue to work with Turned on Its Head, developing new dance work for Early Years. (See below).
In 2016 we are working with Stopgap Dance Company to present a new work to tour into schools. Stopgap create exhilarating dance productions working with disabled and non-disabled artists who find innovative ways to collaborate.
