Imaginative Neighbourhoods is a year long artist in residence scheme that will build on the success of the Imaginative Spaces project to support storytelling as a medium to promote reading for pleasure and language development.
This year Jayne Williams is writer in residence at Beaumont Leys and Manya Benenson and Parmjit Sagoo are artists in residence at Belgrave Neighbourhood.
The artists will work with neighbourhood staff, schools, family and community groups to re-imagine these spaces as cultural hubs at the heart of the community. This will enable local children and families to take part in the many creative activities that can be realised alongside reading.
The artists are developing a year-round programme of events and community engagement programmes that support and develop the facilities.
