Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery – Big Celebration and support from Leicester City Council and Arts Council England, Artist in residence Jayne Williams has been working with the local community to curate a Big Celebration event. The event for residents past and present will take place in Beaumont Leys Library on Saturday 18 March and will be a coming together of community groups, friends, family and neighbours for a programme packed full of creativity. There'll be music, dance, spoken word, poetry, stories, rap, brass band, free food and art exhibitions.

The fantastic folk at Mellor Primary School dressed up as their favourite heroes for this year's 'Hero Day' and raised a whopping £370! We took a trip down to see them in their costumes, it was quite super!

The Spark Festival 2015 will see the launch of the new and exciting 'Young People's Jazz Club' - the first of its kind in the UK. Having already raised 89% of their funding, the Spark are appealing to you to help them raise the final £2000 through crowdfunding.

Leicester Libraries Service (LLS) has been awarded £85,000 to deliver the Imaginative Spaces project during 2014. This important funding from Arts Council England will be used to put 'artists in residence'at two libraries in Leicester. The Spark Arts for Children will work alongside Leicester Libraries as a delivery partner in order to design and deliver the project, which supports storytelling as a medium to promote reading for pleasure and language development.
