Friday 8th July - Attenborough Arts Centre
On Friday 8th July, we held a one-day festival of creativity to connect schools and arts organisations across Leicester City. It focused on children as creative agents and provided opportunities for consultation with young people on their view and understanding of cultural education.
The participatory day found out 'what creativity means to young people?' Using Arts Award, installations and artist lead activity the event mixed the arts with curriculum subjects and identified the impact of creativity.
The resulting evaluation will support the development of a strategic framework for collaboration that aims to provide a high quality cultural education for every child in Leicester.
This acts as a follow on campaign to The City Classroom's case study work around local learning. The event, hosted at Attenborough Arts Centre, brought together 100 students from ten Primary and Special Educational Needs schools to find out what creativity means to them.
