The City Playground
A new exhibition exploring games and play with drop in workshops to design and build new games. Filled with diversions and amusements, a hands on opportunity for children and parents alike to play and think in new ways.
From games of chance such as Ludo or Snakes and Ladders to ephemeral games like hide and seek the exhibition offers a wide and deep range of ways to play in The Gallery. Alongside historical and contemporary pastimes artists from across the United Kingdom have been commissioned to develop new participatory works for the exhibition.
As the exhibition progresses games designed and built by children and young people will be added to the display for others to use and adapt.
Alongside the games we have a chill out space for children and young people showing films by contemporary artists.
Pursuits of Happiness has been developed in partnership with Leicester University's School of Museum Studies.
