A 'clinical' space is being transformed into something extraordinary. All thanks to young people's ignited imaginations…
Young disabled people from Ash Field Academy are creatively joining forces with professional disabled and non-disabled artists to create an inclusive multi-sensory installation at their school and in their community.
The theme is finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. The installation incorporates first-hand knowledge, experiences and viewpoints of the school environment including the access requirements.
On Friday 11 February each child in the school will visit the installation. Parents, carers and other family members will be invited into the school to share this exceptionally authentic experience.
Ash Field Academy and Mellor Community Primary School are also joining forces with artist Siân Watson to takeover Curve on Saturday 12 February as part of the festival.
Looking to the future
As a legacy The Spark will continue to work with young people at Ash Field Academy to set up a 'Creativity Council' giving children a voice in the arts in their school.
