Adriano Adewale: Music project 2020

Our World

A music residency and performance project.

Our Word was a music performance in partnership with young people – it asked what does it mean to be a 9 year old boy/girl and on the edge of an environmental disaster. Through the exploration of theme we explored the sound of the dirty waters, the burning trees and the melting ice.

Each participating school created different sound worlds – working ultimately to weave together a narrative full of tension and distortion – quiet reflection and resolution using percussion, drums, voices and junk instruments.

Brazilian composer and percussionaist Adriano Adewale was artist in residence with 3 schools in Leicester, Avenue Primary School, Folville Junior School and St Thomas More Academy. They all come together to perform with Adriano and his band at The Y Theatre as part of the Spark Festival 2020.
