The Snow Queen: Magical Half Term Theatre For Families
Posted: Tue, 28 May 2013 22:06
The Spark Festival takes place at venues across Leicester between 29 May and 9 June and there are hundreds of arts events taking place across the city for ages 0 – 13. During half term, The Snow Queen at Curve will delight family audiences with a magical, colourful adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale.
After a freak snowstorm on the southern tip of India, Kumar is captured by the formidable Snow Queen. From the burning heat of southern India through lush backwaters, glitzy Bollywood and desolate bandit country Gowri, our brave heroine sets out to rescue him. Will Kumar be trapped forever in the deathly cold of everlasting winter or can his closest friend find a way of melting the Snow Queen's frozen heart?
This brand new version of Hans Christian Andersen's magical tale has been adapted by leading playwright Anupama Chandrasekhar and is presented by Trestle Theatre. The Snow Queen is suitable for ages 6 and over and will be at Curve on Weds 29 May at 1pm and 7pm and Thur 30 May at 11am and 4pm. On Weds 29 May after the 1pm performance there is an after show discussion. On Thur 30 May there is a family workshop between 1.30pm and 3.30pm. The performance on Thur 30 May at 4pm features British Sign Language throughout the show. Tickets cost £8 each for the performance and £5 each for the family workshop.
