Powerful Words - Poetry Project

Boosting emotional wellbeing, improving literacy skills, inspiring confidence in children

In February 2018, we will begin our second residency in Leicester schools with the poetry project Powerful Words.

Our poet in residence will use the power of creative writing to improve literacy skills, develop confidence and self-esteem with young people.

Across the residency, year four students from 4 participating schools will be given the skills and inspiration to write their own material. The young poet laureates will bring their final pieces to an electric live performance event showcasing their talent in our poetry slam taking place during the Spark Festival 2018.

All children will have the opportunity to take an Arts Award at Discover level adding to their sense of achievement. A Teacher Resource pack will be available to support continuation of delivery.
