Powerful Words - Poetry Project

Boosting emotional wellbeing, improving literacy skills, inspiring confidence in children

Our second residency in Leicester schools with the poetry project Powerful Words began in February this year (2018).

Our poet in residence John Berkavitch has focused on using the power of creative writing to improve literacy skills, develop confidence and self-esteem with young people.

Across the residency, year four students from the 4 participating schools have been given the skills and inspiration to write and create their own work. The young poet laureates came together in the Powerful Words Poetry Slam to showcase their talent and new material in a electric live performance event which took place in May part of The Spark festival 2018

If you are interested in finding out more about your school taking part, please email gemma@thesparkarts.co.uk

All children will have the opportunity to take an Arts Award at Discover level adding to their sense of achievement. A Teacher Resource pack will be available to support continuation of delivery.
