Part of The Spark Festival 2024, this free creative event was planned and delivered by Leicester children for families from across the city.

Children from Falcons Primary and Queensmead Primary worked with artist Sam Redway to ‘takeover’ Leicester Museum & Art Gallery – and they planned a brilliant day! They also took on key roles on the day itself – from hosting to assisting with activities.
Free activities during the day
Drop-in activities during the day included Mehndi hand painting, making Rangoli artwork, and designing jewellery during bead-making sessions.
Puppet show and puppet-making
Laika The Space Dog by Lori Hopkins is the story of a stray dog on an exciting mission into outer space. It features a beautifully crafted puppet, an exciting soundtrack and a few surprises! After the performance, families could ‘meet’ Laika and make a puppet to take home.
