Free activities during the day
Drop-in during the day to get creative with Mehndi hand painting, making Rangoli artwork, and designing your own jewellery during bead-making sessions. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, and plenty of new things to try!

Puppet show and puppet-making
Laika The Space Dog by Lori Hopkins is the story of a stray dog on an exciting mission into outer space. It features a beautifully crafted puppet, an exciting soundtrack and a few surprises! After the performance, families can ‘meet’ Laika and make a puppet to take home.

Attending this takeover
Joining in with the Leicester Museum & Art Gallery takeover is free – making it a great day out for the family. Drop-in at any time between 11.00 am and 3.00pm and stay as long as you like. Remember that, if you want to attend the puppet show (and puppet-making sessions), these will take place at the set times displayed above.
There are limited number of parking spaces available in the museum car park, so we encourage you to join us using public transport if you can. The car park can be accessed at Princess Road West, LE1 6TR (via West Street), and the nearest alternative is situated on East Street (LE1 6NB).

Children from Falcons Primary and Queensmead Primary have worked with artist Sam Redway to ‘takeover’ Leicester Museum & Art Gallery – and they’ve planned a brilliant day for you all! They will also be taking on key roles on the day itself – from hosting to assisting with activities. So come an experience a day of free creative activities for the whole family.
