Description

Leicester and Leicestershire Early Years Music Network

24 March 2026 1:30 – 3.30pm

This FREE face to face network event is for all early years practitioners and artists working with children aged 2-5 years interested in developing music in their setting.

The network is supported through a partnership between The Spark Arts for Children, LeicesterShire Music, and Leicester City Council Early Help Team as part of the Music Champions project.

Child-led music making through play and exploration

We will share case studies and practical workshops from our Music Champions project which focussed on child-centred music making. This will include practical workshops with two musicians involved in the project:-

Phil Pearson will share work from his partnership with St Barnabas Primary School –  building sensory sound environments using everyday objects. Phil will also give an insight into how this sensory approach can really empower and support SEND children.

Maisy Neale will support us in thinking about musical play, sharing learning from her partnership with Little Peepul Nursery. We will explore how music can be inspired in many different ways drawing on the boundless imagination of young children.
