A Creative Rest

After six amazing months of bringing inspiring arts experiences to children across Leicester and Leicestershire, our small but passionate team is taking a short break from 18 August to Friday 22 August.

We’ve taken time to reflect, listen to our team and look at what we need to keep creating meaningful, joyful work with children. The answer?

A little creative rest ❤️

Just a week to pause, recharge and so we can come back with fresh energy and imagination for what’s next.

Here’s a taster of what we’ve achieved together recently:

  • Nearly 5,000 children and families joined us for Spark LIVE! in schools, libraries and local communities
  • We reached 18 different locations with live performances, music, storytelling and workshops.
  • 44 children took the lead meaning they co-created shows, hosted events and welcomed audiences.
  • At our punk-themed library event Les-tah to the Front, 100% of families said their child enjoyed it, with many of these even noticing a confidence boost for their children.
  • Our school tour brought theatre straight into school halls, reaching 3,000 children in just 4 days.
  • Children took over Leicester Museum & Art Gallery and DMU Gallery, curating events and drawing in over 1,000 visitors.
  • We ended on a high at Riverside Festival, where over 300 families joined in and had their voices heard with a powerful spoken word finale led by Poet Laureate, John Bernard.

What’s next?

More Spark LIVE! More unforgettable creative moments. And of course, we’re already looking ahead to:

  • Music Champions Symposium – 8 Oct 2025
  • Vital Spark 2025-26 cohort recruitment
  • The Spark Festival 2026, 16 – 24 May 2026!

Our mission is simple: to bring confidence and creativity to as many children as possible and make sure they feel represented in the art they experience.

We’ll be back soon.

 With gratitude,

The Spark Team
