Leicester’s flagship children’s arts festival, The Spark Festival, returns in 2026 with an ambitious programme of performances, live activities and creative experiences for children and families across the city. From schools and libraries to cultural venues, Spark will transform Leicester into a vibrant playground of imagination.

This year’s festival explores three powerful themes which have been selected by the mega bosses of spark – aka local Leicester school children:

• Play – joyful creativity that sparks curiosity

• Peace – stories and experiences that bring people together

• Equity – ensuring every child has access to creativity and the arts

Audiences can expect live theatre, dance, music and interactive creative events designed for all ages, from early years to secondary school age, alongside opportunities for families to join in. Spark continues its mission to make the arts accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for every child as well as ensuring value for money.
