Spark delighted to remain part of ACE portfolio

In response to the Arts Council England's portfolio funding announcement today, The Spark Arts for Children is delighted to announce that it will continue to be part of the Arts Council's portfolio for the next three years. The Spark became a national portfolio organisation when the programme started in 2012, and during this time has extended it's provision beyond the annual Spark Festival to delivering arts and education work for children and young people in Leicester all-year round. The Spark Arts for Children to work in an exciting new arena with ambitious POP UP PLAY project

The Spark Arts for Children is delighted to announce an exciting new project, which it is running in partnership with De Montfort University and Digital Artist Luke Woodbury. They have been awarded £103,651 in funding from the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts to develop an innovative new project called Pop Up Play exploring how digital technology can be used to engage children in learning. 'Be a Hero for The Spark' Leicester schools dress up this Valentines Day

This Valentine's Day, Mellor Community Primary and Mowmacre Hill Primary schools in Leicester will be taking in part in the Spark Hero Day and helping to raise money for The Spark Arts for Children, responsible for putting on the annual Spark Festival - the largest children's arts festival in England and Wales. Slater Primary School Adopted by Pro Active Resolutions

Leicester-based company Pro Active Resolutions is adopting Slater Primary School for The Spark Festival, by funding a theatre visit to see a re-telling of children's favourite story The Gruffalo. Pupils attending Slater Primary School will visit Curve to see Tall Stories' wonderful production, which will give them an experience to remember whilst also supporting the Spark's ADOPT A SCHOOL programme. Imaginative Space Award granted to Leicester Libraries and The Spark Arts for Children

Leicester Libraries Service (LLS) has been awarded £85,000 to deliver the Imaginative Spaces project during 2014. This important funding from Arts Council England will be used to put 'artists in residence'at two libraries in Leicester. The Spark Arts for Children will work alongside Leicester Libraries as a delivery partner in order to design and deliver the project, which supports storytelling as a medium to promote reading for pleasure and language development. The Spark to Tour New 'Tree Child' Performance to Local Libraries

The Spark is to tour a new performance to 19 libraries across Leicester and Leicestershire this summer. The play entitled Tree Child has been developed in collaboration with two Leicester primary schools in partnership with Leicester Libraries Service.
