More about the artist
A lover of museums, galleries, and all things creative, she embraces the world’s artistic treasures. She is enthusiastic about exploring other cultures through travel while connecting with diverse communities.
Here’s what Tandeka had to say about being a Vital Spark Relationship Programme Artist “I’m so excited to be part of Vital Spark. It offers so much in regards to the development of my skills, personal growth, networking with other organisations and access to other resources that are critical. The partnerships with other organisations that are facing the same creative challenges, really resonates with my ethos of ‘each one teach one’ and I’m looking forward to engaging with other practitioners whilst learning from their guidance, insight and valuable experience.”
As a theatre enthusiast, Tandeka is embarking on a new adventure as a creative producer, on a path to share her passion for the magic of the arts and the stage with others.
She collaborates with organizations within Derby’s community, such as Deda, Derby CAN, Derby Theatre, and The Quad, to create impactful work. She is the creative producer behind ‘Small Island Stories 2,’ a production that has toured the UK and Wales in collaboration with the Windrush Film Festival 2023

The Vital Spark behind everything we do
We believe that all children should be able to experience arts and culture, and that they should be able to see themselves represented in these experiences. This is not yet the case for every child and we’re committed to changing that.
Our response is Vital Spark, and it's at the heart of everything we do. Vital Spark is about challenging and changing the lack of diversity in children’s arts and culture; it’s about diverse-led artistic decision making; it’s about not being afraid to stand up for what’s right.
We do this by supporting artists who are currently underrepresented in children’s arts and culture. We also work with partner organisations to create world-class opportunities for these artists and share best practice.
