Information about the day

Not long to go now!……We are looking forward to seeing you on Sunday and welcoming you to be part of the Spark volunteer team at the Takeover Day at DMU Gallery.

There will be a variety of jobs and activities for you to do, including welcoming audiences, helping artists with arts activities and helping families to have a fantastic day!

On the day you will have a group leader who will show you where you need to be and move you around each activity – they will know what your schedule is and also make sure you have breaks.

Here is some information on the day:-

• Date: Sunday 18 May
• What Time: 10am – 3.00pm
• Venue: DMU Gallery, Vijay Patel Building, De Montfort University Mill Lane, Leicester LE2 7PT
• Getting there: Please see the dmu campus map attached at the end of this letter. The gallery is based on the main university campus. It is a large glass building which is number 50 on the map. The car park is marked on the map number 38.
• Drop-off and parking:  The car park is off Gateway Street  – please use Sat Nav/Google map postcode: LE2 7DP and look out for the “Staff and Pre-booked visitor parking” sign on your left.   Press the buzzer when you get to the barrier and mention you are supporting the Spark Takeover event at the Vijay Patel Building. If you are staying all day you will need to pay and display – it is £4 for the day. If you are just dropping off just let them know and you can park up for 10 minutes to walk across to the gallery.
• Arrival – when you arrive, please go to the welcome desk. You will be greeted there by Hazel, school staff or one of our chaperones who will complete registration with you and provide a full briefing.
• What to bring with you – Please bring a packed lunch, water and snacks with you to have on your breaks. There will be a private room to store your coats and bags, but please keep valuables on you at all times.
• What to wear – We want you to be as comfortable as possible, so please be casual and comfy. We will give you a red spark t-shirt to wear while you are volunteering, so please wear a tight t-shirt or vest to go under this.
• Photography & Filming – There will be a photographer and film maker at the event. If you do not wish to be photographed, you can of course still take part.

Please tell all your friends and family about the event, it’s free to attend and they can drop in anytime between 11am – 3pm to take part in the activities.
